FAQs

What is Freeze-Drying? Is it the same as dehydrating?

Freeze-drying is the process where food is first frozen, and then the moisture is vacuumed out of the food (98% of moisture is removed). Dehydrating uses low heat to dry out the food (80% of moisture removed). Freeze-dried foods have a much longer shelf life than dehydrated foods.

How long does the process take?

You'd be surprised how long! Each batch can be 40 hours or more, depending on how much moisture is in the food that is being processed.

Where do you source your ingredients from?

We try to source locally as much as possible - from local fruits & veggies to candies and treats made right here in Hawai'i.

Where do you ship from?

We ship from the Big Island of Hawai'i - we do try to keep shipping costs as low as we can, but in order to protect the freeze dried goodies, it does require packaging everything in a box to ship.
